Reversible!

I will show you a project that could be a good idea for many moms. However, I didn´t take care of taking the step by step photos. But I am sure you can get the idea from what I have.
Somebody asked me for a set of headboard and nightstand for a little girl. This is the headboard I found...
... and the night stand, as they looked before I started to paint. I wanted something sweet, with a childish look. But I thought it was a pity it would be used for a short time, as kids get tired so soon of these fairy tale images and want something more appropriate for teens so soon.
But then I had this good idea: as the headboard looked exactly the same from both sides, I could paint different things on each side and make it reversible! This is what I chose for an infant.
I downlowded the image from the web, had a laser photocopy made and decoupaged on one side. Hand painted the ornament and the words "once upon a time" on the other
So sweet, isnt it?
The night stand was a challenge, because it was not the same design on both sides. Had a drawer in the front, of course not at the back. I thoght a teenager would give a good use to the drawer, so I left the real front for the second version and worked on the back for this childish version of nightstand. Worked as with the headboard: photocopied a web illustration and decoupaged
And here comes the original part: I painted the reverse of the headboard with a different theme. As I had painted the whole frame in a pale green, I maintained the same colour and painted the central panel white. Did some raised stencil for texture and decoupaged a flower motif in the centre.
And this is the real front of the nightstand: green frame and white drawer.
Two sides for the same set! Now it will be used for many years!

So that nightstand was brown and then you painted it green and sanded off some of the green? Did you have to spray it with something after that to seal it? And what kind of green paint, flat, semi-gloss or what?
