Re-purpose Bed Risers Into Candle Holders

I read a post yesterday on Hometalk that Hillea shared about re-purposing bed risers into bookends. I commented that it reminded me of a similar project that I did a couple years ago and Hillea asked to see my project. So this one's for you Hillea!
I purchased a set of four wooden bed risers from a thrift store for $1. However, at the time I didn't know what they were, but I thought they would make cute candle holders. My husband later told me they were bed risers. Who knew?
I didn't take step-by-step photos, but the project is easy to explain. I spray painted mason jar lids and then glued scrap book paper to the bottoms. I sealed the paper with Mod Podge and then wrapped pip berries around the lids and glued everything to the bed risers. For the candle, I applied Mod Podge to create texture and allowed some of it to drip down the sides. I dabbed some dark wax to give it an aged look.
For the wood base of my candle holders, I painted them with Primer Red and Graphite (Annie Sloan Chalk Paint). I sealed the base with Mod Podge and then applied letters using a wet graphic transfer method. When grouped together, one side spells "LOVE".
The other side spells "HOME". The candle holders look great on a mantle, but they also work wonderfully as a centerpiece on a dining table. It was an easy project overall, but it did require doing eight graphic transfers, and I remember being nervous that I would mess up the last transfer and ruin the entire project! But in the end it worked out OK. :-)

As I mentioned, I didn't take step-by-step photos of this project, but I do have a link on my blog post for another project that I created a tutorial of how to easily transfer an image to your project.
