Bold Update in the Powder Room is Charming

We have lived in our home for over five years, and I have never been a fan of the paint color in the powder room. It was just kind of bland. When I discovered that I had a free afternoon a few weeks ago, I bought a gallon of In the Navy by Sherwin Williams and painted the room the color I had been craving for several years. Although our front door and an office wall are Naval, by SW, I decided to go with a different navy this time around.
"In the Navy" is a true navy blue, and although it didn't always look deep and dark in my pictures, it looks perfect in person. The powder room is teeny, and I was afraid the navy would be too much even though it is my favorite color. However, it turned out exactly the way I hoped it would.
The custom made marble counter top and back splash sit on a white stand, and I wanted to hide the legs. So, I made a green gingham skirt to hide the legs and all of those things one has in a bathroom.
I purchased an antique Persian rug on ebay, and the greens in the rug match the green in the gingham perfectly. The little rug makes the room all come together.
Another purchase I made to give the room an old English kind of feel is a bamboo mirror in a tortoise shell finish. (The link to the mirror is in our blog.) It looks so much better than the little mirror that was on the wall before.
This is the room before. The color was paladium by Benjamin Moore. Although it is a lovely color, it just didn't do a thing for the powder room. If you would like to see more photos and see the clever artwork, please visit our blog.
