However, we still need to be able to use the room for guests complete with the twin beds. Any ideas on how to make this manageable?
thanks, Jeanne Fox

A computer armoire works good, plenty of storage inside and you can close the doors when guests arrive. I think I saw one on a Martha Stewart site years ago where she had transformed one, you could try to google that and see what you can find..

Arrange the twin beds in an "L" on the window wall & adjoining wall. That should leave a wall for designing a work place. Depending on your budget, an unfinished pantry at each end with baskets or storage bins would anchor your work space. In between, you could have a pull down table much like a pull down ironing board that could be utilized when no one was visiting. The extra space on the side of the table could be used as a peg board system for holding scissors, small buckets with drawing pens, etc.
