For sociable people who like having guests over, having a guest room is a must. Do your relatives visit you often? Do you have a friend from college coming into town? If so, then having a nice guest room is a great way to impress your guests. If you are considering having a room renovated to serve as a guest room, then the first thing that you will have to do is to find a good general contractor. A great contractor will be able to turn your ideas and concepts into reality. The http://www.newageglobalbuilders.com blog team will now provide you with useful tips and tricks on how to create the perfect guest room.
Lighting tips and ideas
Most people who have traveled at some point in their lives will know how hard it is to be comfortable in a room or a home that isn’t their own. You can help make your guests more comfortable by using the right type of lighting. Yellow or warm lighting gives off a "fuzzy and warm feeling" while white or day lighting gives off more of a museum effect. Personally, in my home in Queen, I used day or white lighting for my bathroom and yellow lighting for living and bedrooms. Have your general contractor install lightning fixtures that will make your guest bedroom more cozy and alluring. If you have not heard of spot lights then you are missing the boat. Hotels from NYC to LA are using spotlights everywhere. Spotlights use small LED lights and simply give your guest the feeling of being in an upscale hotel room. Using yellow spot lights will create an effect of upscale yet cozy. I personally have spotlights with yellow LED's in 2 of my guestrooms.
Stick With Neutral Colors and Furnishings
Keep in mind that a guest room does not have a permanent owner. More often than not, your guests can have different tastes and preferences. If you want your guests to be comfortable and at ease during their stay, then it would be best to stick with neutral colors. There are many gender neutral colors to choose from such as white, brown, or even gray. Aside from the room’s color scheme, you should also opt for neutral furnishings as well. This way, the room will be comfortable for a wide range of people. I personally live in a borough of NYC known as Queens where General Contractors love using neutral colors.
Provide Room Accessories suitable for Travelers
Since your guests will probably be flying in for weekends or short term stays, it would be best to have room accessories such as luggage racks in a corner of your room. This way, your guests will have a place to store their suit cases and other luggage items. You could also add a general purpose desk that can be used as a temporary office space, a place to eat, or even a place to apply makeup.

Regardless of whether you want to have a new guest room built or if you simply want to remodel an existing room for use as a guest room, having a reputable general contractor will help you get the job done right. In my hometown of Queens, BBB general contractors (better business bureau) are easy to find, they are screened, approved, licensed and insured. Never let and illegal or an unskilled person take responsibility for something as important as your home.
