You may need to call a pro into deal with these critters. Everything I've read suggests home remedies help but can't completely get rid of them.
  • There are a few methods of removal of these bugs. But I doubt it was the couch if your seeing them now. Had they been in the couch when you purchased it, you would have seen them a long time ago. You can pick up these bugs by simply staying in a hotel for just one evening. They can set up shop quickly in your luggage. Also being in a house that has an infestation can bring them in to your house as well. Regardless you still have them and need to remove Spays work, but like the cockroach they lay hundreds of eggs and the sprays often do not last long enough to kill the new ones that hatch. So spraying needs to be done on a regular basis every few days. But you need more then just spraying to rid yourself of them. A good high quality HEPA vacuum is important. You need to get into every crevice and nook and cranny in the furniture, the beds, all the dressers and around the drapes. Also do not forget behind photos that are on the wall. These bugs can get everywhere. The pros use a few different methods. 1 is heat. If the room is heated high enough at least 115 or higher for at least 20 min will kill them. But remember that clothes and mattresses are like insulation so you need to make everything light and open so the heat will get everywhere. Piles of clothes will simply give them a place to stay safe until its cool again. Also please do not try this on your own. people have burnt down their homes trying to use dryers and all sorts of electrical heating devices only to have lost the entire home. This is a method only a pro with the proper equipment should be using. 2. Cold. Dry ice and freezing temps below 32 degrees will also work. But much like the heat, you need about 20 min and again lots of air around everything so the materials do not act like insulation preventing them from getting cold. 3. The combination of using Ozone and essential oils in a fogger works really well. But like the other two methods you need to open everything up to allow air to move freely around the home. Proper placements of fans also are needed to spread the ozone around. You need a high output ozone generator, not something that is cheep nor something you can rent, but combine the ozone that will kill a good percentage of the insects and the essential oils that the live bugs as the move around trying to get away from the ozone you have pretty much a 100% kill rate on all but the really bad problems. Those may require a few treatments over a few days to complete the process. Another benefit of using Ozone it kills everything. All bugs spiders, mice run. But you need to remove your fish, your plants and your pets. Also High concentrations of Ozone has been known to destroy natural products such as rubber and fur. But removal of these items are easy and the results are great. In any case, you need a pro to assist you. You cannot purchase the products and use them safely on your own.
