Re-purposing a Tomato Cage Into a Christmas Tree

Transform a humble wire tomato cage into a dazzling Christmas Tree. It is inexpensive, easy & such fun! The possibilities are endless.
I chose a palette of pink & gold. These are my decorations. Chose things you can tie on easily.
Tree decorated. This one stands 54" tall, but smaller cages are available.
purchase or re-use a wire tomato cage.
Tie the top prongs together with twine or strong string. Dot some glue for a secure hold.
Start "garlanding" your ribbon around the tree. Wire ribbon is a good choice as it stays where you want it better.
Glue &/or sew a few stitches to secure ribbon in place.
Secure ribbon where you want it & begin to decorate.
Ribbon on bottom of cage.
use glue sparingly so it does not drip.
Wrap ribbon around the top prongs and cover with something to cover the prongs. I used a nest from Michaels. Covered styrofoam balls work well too.
Tie on pretty decorations. Secure with glue.

Love these vintage pinecone ornaments!
Pinecone on the tree.
I had one vintage pink ball so I dangled it with thread from the top inside the wires.

I think yours is lovely. This is my interpretation of tomato cage Christmas tree. My granddaughters and I made just about all of the ornaments. I just love the way it turned out.
