Small black flying bugs. This is the first year that they have been a problem at my house. (lower central Alabama). Have seen them at friend/relatives homes in south AL and FL.

Im in Florida and they are everywhere.. the good news? is they are seasonal and should go away in a few weeks. the bad news? no way to get repel them. Blame it on global warming that they are now higher north where you are.

I've never heard of a "love bug" but if it is called that because it looks sort of heart-shaped, try Googling "drain flies" or "sewer flies." I have had them show up once in awhile because the j-shaped trap in the plumbing from an unused shower drain or floor drain goes dry. They come up from the sewer and fly around the house. My solution is just to pour some water down the drain to seal off the sewer. If I'm really feeling "bugged" I'll add a little bit of bleach, too.
