the white powdery garden lime is calcium carbonate. Don't get granular dolomite lime! Lime wash, or white wash was once extremely popular for painting interiors and exteriors, still used for killing bugs on the walls of animal sheds. All we did was mix powdered lime and water to a thin solution. Of course you have to be a bit careful using any fine powder, even your talc! I'm going to try it out today for my DIY chalk paint and compare it to the paint I made with POP
