What type of wax? Candle wax? or floor wax? If it is the former a clean cotton rag dampened with just a touch of mineral spirits. Dull floor are due to wear in the surface finish, and wax will not help much

I have a cleaning company, if it's floor wax, go to a hardware store and ask for "wax stripper", in the cleaning aisle near the floor wax. Follow the instructions on the bottle. It's that simple.

Keep in mind that all laminates basically have a top layer of "plastic" ...normally it is acrylic. The "shine" has to do with how that top plastic layer is manufactured. Some are "shinier" than others...the floor will get less shinny over time as the finish is worn by microscopic dirt that "scratches the top plastic layer. There is no way to make them shinny. With a real wood floor the top finish can be sanded /buffed and a new finish can be applied. This will give new life and more gloss. Personally i like to apply "satin" finishes as they will look better over a longer time frame. When a gloss finish is applied it is shinny when new. as this finish wears it will become dull in the higher traffic areas first. this will give you some areas that are dull and others that are still shinny. When satin is used this gloss contrast is not so noticable.
