The hanging of the fall wreath marks the start of autumn for me! Wreaths, however, can be SO expensive. That's why I prefer using twig wreaths.
Greenery can easily be tucked amongst the stems and easily pulled out again to created a new design for the next season. No extra cash for a twig wreath? Make your own from limber twigs in your backyard!
Wreath greenery and florals can be equally expensive. Cut down cost by adding stems and stalks from the yard and sew these simple fabric pumpkins from fabric scraps! (See fabric pumpkin tutorial on my Hometalk page or follow blog link below)
To start, spray paint a twig wreath with some white spray paint. (Don't have white spray paint? I didn't either! Instead, I mixed watered-down white latex primer and brushed it on.)
For added warmth, I gathered a few stalks of dried arugula from the garden together using fishing line.
Once I tucked the bundle into the wreath, I secured it to the wreath discreetly with more fishing line.
Fabric pumpkins and leaves can easily be hot glued in place. Don't have a hot glue gun? Sew the pumpkins and leaves on with a few loops of thread!
A mini chalkboard adds a great finishing touch.
I can't decide what I love more: how nicely the whitewashed twigs stands out against my blue door or the fact that this lovely wreath cost me $0!
