flip it over...it might not be as bad on the other side.

You can certainly try the fabric dye, you're probably not going to be able to match it, but you could go for a tie-dyed look. Perhaps use this elsewhere and get another for yourself?

    just what I thought, I am screwed......uggggggggggggg
    • @Wendy Shmaeff I liked that comment! But there is another creative idea...find a big applique or something that will cover the area and embellish the spread. Just a thought...

Another way to go would be to bleach the entire thing, gently and slowly, until it's all white. Overbleaching will break down the fabric. Then dye it to the color you want. Or get it professionally dyed, which is the better way to go. There are some risks with doing it this way, but it beats throwing it in the trash. Good luck!

The stain looks like an angel looking to heaven. She even has wings. You may have your applique already, and just need someone to stitch around it. :)

I see an angel, but I also see it as a lobster also. Maybe I am just hungry. LOL! I think an applique is a great idea to cover up the bleach mark. I put appliques or use fabric paints over bleach spots on my blue jeans sometimes.

I would try to find a dye as close in color as possible...mix it up and use a different piece of fabric that is close in same type as bedspread and try to match color by dipping and letting it dry, then laying beside bedspread to see how close......once you get the right color....I would use a sponge brush(paint type) and dip in color, then paint it onto spread. Allow each seemingly matching color to dry completely and then paint again if not dark enough and dilute with water if too dark. Don't know if this will work but I'd do that before trashing bedspread.....Just my thought! Good Luck! I hate it when I ruin something I really like! (Be sure to put something under bedspread when you paint it to absorb color so it doesn't bleed through....

In the dye section, it has a box of color remover ( not as harsh as pure bleach) Remove by directions. Re dye it to your favorite color. Once you dye it, soak over night in vinegar water to set your color or it will get lighter each time you wash it! Good luck with it!

@Karen Kelso This is your answer. You said it was new, and I am sure you don't want to waste the money already spent on it. It's what I would do. I'd remove the color, then tint it to what I want. It's light aleady, so that is a plus. It will remove the color easily

You can try to dye it, but it will need to be a slightly darker color. Make sure that you use enough water and dye to do the job. If you don't you will end up with areas that are not colored. Make sure that you agitate it thoroughly. I use at least 3 wash cycles and make sure to move the item around by lifting it out and putting it back in, in a different orientation. Then as Karen says, soak it in vinegar for 24 hours to make sure that the color fixes. Be sure to use white vinegar. I have had trouble with cider vinegar coloring lightly colored articles.

HOW ABOUT DOING APPLIQUES ON THE BLANKET? YOU WOULD HAVE TO DO SEVERAL OF THEM TO MAKE THEM APPEAR AS THOUGH IT AS SUPPOSED TO BE THAT WAY AND IT WOULD PROBABLY HAVE TO BE IN A RANDOM FASHION ALSO. MAYBE MATCH THE APPLIQUES TO YOUR CURTAINS. JUST A THOUGHT.

Try this. 1 tsp Dawn for dishes, 3-4 TBLS hydrogen peroxide and 2 TBLS baking soda. See if that works for you.

Depending on where the spot is...if it is near the foot of the bed you could lay a quilt or throw there. It would be like "I meant to do that."

Make other similar looking "accidents" all over the bedspread so that it looks like it's supposed to be that way.

I thought you a solution was needed for getting out the stain. I gave a recipe, I found on some blog and it really works! Mix the above all together, put it on the stain and gone... That's what it's for and that is what it does. Desi

I agree with using Rit color remover in the whole quilt and then readying it to a light blue. If you have matching pillow shams, do the same to them so all pieces match.

Bleach the color out of the rest of the bedspread just be sure to do a extra rinse.
