A DIY Long Tapered Crate

It is no secret I love old fence wood...especially when I can transform it into something useful. I had some great 1x6 pieces from a neighbor that was replacing their old fence and set to work modifying Ana White's tapered crate plans into a 4 foot long tapered crate! It is huge, rustic, and filled to the brim with fall goodness that makes me think of crisp weather and falling leaves!
It looks so pretty on my kitchen counter!
Find some old 5 1/2 in. fence wood.
I took apart the old fence making sure to save four long pieces. You can make it any size you want, I went for a super long.
Here are the two long sides and the short ends cut at 15 degrees off square, short point to short point.
Measure, cut and build.
With the ends cut at an angle I could glue and nail them together. Then I added the bottom piece.
Using a quick homemade template I drilled holes for some rope pulls and that was it!

It makes such a great statement and can be used year around.

Not only can you use it in the "normal" way, I thought it looked super cute propped up on it's side too.

Since I ended up selling this one, I really need to make one for ME! Thanks for stopping by and for a full tutorial check out my blog post!
