How to paint this

I've been told several ways to paint this. I've been told don't use flat, use semi gloss. I can't afford chalk paint what I originally wanted to do. So this is what I decided to do: I got some dark blue paint color on my walls going to paint that on but not sure if need to paint whole piece or just sections I intend on sanding after I paint the white on and should I dilute my white down like a white wash just trying to figure out best way to go.

You can make your own chalk paint, several options on the internet. I think if you dilute it down more of the brown will show through. I made my own chalk paint was easy and the piece came out great. Good luck!
  • You could probably get away with 2 small jars of paint samples (they are about a cup each) and make your own chalk paint Here's my recipe and I use this on many different woods and projects. http://www.thegardenfrogboutique.com/2016/02/...

You can buy chalk paint in Walmart in the craft department. easier than making it.

Credit:Lowes Mix 1/3 cup of plaster of Paris and 1/3 cup of cool water; stir until completely smooth. Mix that with 1 cup of latex paint and stir thoroughly. This will make enough chalk-finish paint for one coat on a six-drawer dresser. Chalk-finish paint should not be stored and reused.

Hi, I wouldn't paint it,.. I would maybe sand it a little to get the wood grain back in and then polyurethane it for a nice finish,.. I love the wood look,..
