OXY-CLEAN! I spilled red wine all over my off-white carpet when I was bottling a finished wine kit... the filter hose vibrated while it was running, I didn't notice & it suddenly went flying, splattering little dark red wine dots everywhere. Later on, I also knocked a bottle over (yeah I AM a klutz, haha). Use some powdered oxyclean, mixed with warm water to dissolve it as much as possible. Soak the stain for a few minnutes, then blot everything up with a towel to absorb as much as possible. Then keep soaking & blotting it till it's gone. Hope that helps!

Use some all purpose cleaner (like 409), spray the area well, then place a folded terry-cloth wash cloth/rag over it and using your Iron (with steam ON) put on top of the rag, if you have 'burst of steam' push that button a couple of times. Then refold the towel and put new 'clean' side down and repeat. I used this method when my kids were little very successfully (light tan carpet and RED koolaid/jello/freeze pop juice)

I only use ammonia and a clean white cloth. I used it remove an old stain (large) from a spilled Pepsi. Came right up. Be careful using it on red wine, you would need to do it twice to get it all out.Good Luck.
