The basic design principles of Ikebana are so simple. If you like a clean and minimalistic arrangement this is for you.
Gather a variety of organic materials from your yard. Include dead and alive with a few being long.
For this one I used a dead oakleaf hydrangea blossom and two leaves from a calla lily.
I added the 3 small mums and they were the only thing I bought. An entire bunch was $3.99 and I had most of them left to place in a vase elsewhere.
For this one I used the same type hydrangea and lily leaves, but I added a zinnia from my yard and one new growth sprig off a Japanese maple
This one is just three branches from a camellia and a zinnia from the yard.
Come to the blog for more (but simple) instructions and a selection of Ikebana style vases.
