Gardening With Bears
Not something that everyone has to deal with but we do. This is the time of year the bears enter our area orchards to fatten up on fallen apples before heading for their long winter hibernation. Bears are magnificent animals and we feel privileged to have them around, however extreme caution and lots of common sense is needed when interacting with them. Our whippets chased this black bear up a tree. What were they thinking??
Chris gets very nervous this time of year. The Bears are a huge problem around his apiary.
This handcrafted bear over- sees the garden. Probably the best kind of bear to have around.

We are rural but not that far away the city has expanded. We welcome them.

My suggestion is to get dogs like lab size or bigger, as bears are actually very afraid of dogs and will turn and run from them.
