Help! I need to buy new bath towels

I really need to get new bath towels because these are on their very last leg. I've never found a brand that stood up for very long. Any recommendations for a good long lasting brand of bath towel?

Jacklyn Smith from Kmart! Great price AND they hold up very well. I have bought EXPENSIVE brands and these really are better. I have had 5 for 4 years and I bought 7 more 2 years ago. They are All in great shape and are soft and absorbent. Easy to order ONLINE and sometimes shipping is FREE.

Jan - Missouri Better Homes and Gardens - but there are several choices. The words on the tag to look for are "Egyptian Loftwist". Found at Wal-Mart - $8 for a generous bath towel.

I've been really happy with my Threshold towels from Target. The price was right, they're nice and plush, and after nearly 2 years of solid use, they're holding up beautifully.

Not to confuse you with another store but mine are from Sears and have lasted for years!

Don't get the ones that have a "band" at either end: the band will shrink in the dryer so that the ends of the towel look gathered up.

I found a deal, www.13deals.com/store/item.php?id=44310. I also have bought from penneys and kohls using BRADSDEALS. They are great toweks

I've got a bunch of towels from Penny's that I've had for over 10 years that are white and most are still in great condition. They were "spa" towels probably don't even make anymore. I did have one unravel at the edges so I cut up and use for rags--still using and I have one with band a couple of inches from the bottom, I won't buy those anymore because of the puckering already mentioned

I also have towels and washcloths from Penny's that I have had for 17 yrs. while many others have come and gone to rags. I have no idea what the actual brand was because the little cloth tags with that info didn't hold up as well as the towels. But I swear, the whole set still looks brand new, no fading, thinning, tearing. Unfortunately, I can no longer afford to shop at Penny's so we end up with the cheap ones that last maybe 2 yrs.

Yes, Penneys has terrific towels. I found that Egyptian cotton towels (any brand) are the best for absorption.

I've always bought, on sale, the very best towels I could find, and they last and last. I don't wash them often, feeling that I'm clean when using them. Often put outside on nice days to dry. They smell wonderful.

I've got Penneys too but in all white. My daughter and I get white because you can bleach them and keep them looking freshly laundered and bright. We use an accent color for display.

Bath sheets are the way to go. Or beach towels. I have a beach towel I bought for my mom, some 30 years ago I still use in my bathroom every day now, looks like new.

I bought HUGE bath towels at Sam's Club for $7.00 each. They are really thick, which is what we like. They are hotel grade. So far they are doing excellent. They do shed a lot when they are washed, but figure that will stop after a few washings. Only 1 problem, not a big choice of colors and no hand towels to match.

Also saw them at Sam's and could not believe the price! Well worth the trip if you are not close by...

Costco has great towels and they DON'T shrink through the non-piled edges.

Costco is pretty good. Try the Company Store too. There will never be any towels or sheets as wonderful as the old Charisma brand! The new Charisma isn't bad, but they are not like the sheets and towels in the "old days"-- (went bankrupt in early 2,000). Look for Supima cotton for the nicest towels.

Don't forget to check out your local Big Lots store. A few years back, I picked up 6 amazing Tommy Hilfiger Bath Sheets and Washcloths - still going strong... They wash and wear very well!

Try Target, I thought I would take a chance and get some of their less expensive ones and have been pleasently surprised by how absorbent they are and have stood up to many washings.

I like Canon Towels, and here in the northeast we have a Canon Outlet with great prices. Hopefully you have a similar outlet near you?
  • Brenda Hand-Amunrud Brenda Hand-Amunrud on Sep 20, 2016
I agree Cannon towels are the best brand I have found. Target has some cheaper towels that are not as good quality as Cannon but they are a cheaper substitute if you have a small budget. I also like the Kohl's brand.

I bought the cheap Better Homes and Gardens bath towels from Walmart. (4.88)They have stood up to a busy beach house with many kids. Repeated washing without lint or fading and I have had them for three years. The kids even wipe up floor and dogs and they look new.

Hands down, Ralph Lauren towels purchased at TJMaxx or Marshall's are the best buy. The quality and thickness of these towels is top notch.

I've had them all. I like the ones that I bought at IKEA, crazy sale .99cent each with a loop to hang. Not thin or thick but it outlasted all of the others.
  • Jan9815268 Jan9815268 on Sep 23, 2016
Whatever brand, read the laundering label. It was pointed out to me recently that cotton towels should be washed in warm - not hot - as hot water shrinks cotton. Do not use a softener including dryer sheets as the substance sticks to the loops and over time they become less absorbent.

I have had very good luck with the towels Costco sells, the brand is Charisma and they are holding up very nicely - over 6 years so far.

I suggest buying white towels. Hotels use white for various reasons but mainly, they appear crisp and spa-like. Secondly, you can keep them vibrantly white and sanitary by bleaching them.
