What should I do to this pail?

Jessica Serrano-Gregg on Sep 18, 2016Funny story but I had one I was using as a utensil storage by the stove for a few years and yesterday I just got around to painting it. My friend gave me a faux patina kit made by plaid ( I think it's discontinued as I couldn't find it anywhere) but everything was sealed up and the paint was fine so I faux patina'd ( made up word lol) a metal tin bucket! Oh the irony but it turned out really nice even though I had second thoughts lol. You don't even need a kit to patina, I searched faux patina on Pinterest and it gave me so many options with craft paint I had on hand. I'll take a pic as its still curing after the 10th coat of dishwasher safe mod podge I used to seal it to make it water proof, clean easily and food safe for my utensils. My other idea I had was to chalk paint it a creamy base color, then a teal over that, distress and then stencil on one of my vintage French bakery or cafe themed patterns in black since I'm using mine for the kitchen. But I went with aging mine as well as I thought it was fitting for a metal pail! What are you using yours for?Helpful Reply

Katie on Sep 19, 2016Ya know it was such a great deal and I love jars, baskets and metal Pails of all sorts I haven't thought about what I'm gonna use it for lol! The hubs and I are buying a new house hopefully with a nice big back yard so we are going to build a nice stone fire pit might be good to use the Pail for logs! I'm thinking I will age it with Zeps acod toilette cleaner! I did that with a big round bucket looks so cool! I'm also thinking of painting it too look like an enamel bucket! Ugh I just don't know! Thanks for ur comments! I hope u post pics of what I end up doingHelpful Reply

Sue McNally on Sep 19, 2016you can use it for patio lighting -use floral foam at the bottom of the bucket--purchase 5-6 outside lights you can get them for$ 2-3-the ones that line walk ways and no electricity-put them in the floral foam randomly and then hang the bucket from a hook-makes great lighting for sitting on the patio at niteHelpful Reply
