First of all ,Congrats and realize this will take a lot of week ends, money, blood, sweat and oh ya..tears, lol, but oh so worth it. 2nd, get rid of those shrubs in front. They are spider catchers , thief hiders , and the roots will grow into your foundation. Plus they hid the beauty of your house and just plain ugly in their place. Put in a plant garden with mulch, chips, small and large rocks, and garden animals/decor. I do not know your area but I am sure there's country somewhere u could go on a drive and find all kinds of things to do décor with. Then brighten up your entry. I would paint your dormer either white or light gray,( looks like your house is gray, if it's blue go with white) along with your shutters, or even take the shutters down and use them for a hider on the side with the heat pump. I saw on here where a lady did a beautiful garden décor with shutters to hide her outside utilities. But if you really want ot make it low maintenance, go with vinyl siding. Am so a fan. No more hard work in prepping priming and painting, just grab a hose. On the driveway side I would do a retainer wall from your stairs out to the road and even maybe into the front, then fill it in with dirt clear to the other side of the tree doing a design line going into the same as u did where the shrubs were. Don't forget to do a drip line before you put the mulch and chips down. I also c a tall bird feeder or a water fountain on either side of the porch. By opting for low maintenance décor instead of grass u end up with free-er , lol, (Spelling don't count) weekends and less cost on water. Well, That's my 2 cents worth, lol. What ever you decide I wish you luck and can't stress enough on "Don't Stress" it will get done. I've been in my house over 20 years , raised my daughter here, on my own, and am still working on it. It's a little easier now financially since she is grown and has a house of her own.
