Removable Frosted Glass for Windows / Sidelight

I have an embarrassing admission. I have been using paper towels to cover my sidelights for almost 8 months now. I don't like the way curtains looked on them, blinds were to expensive, so this was the solution :) Until....I found an even better one (and let's face it, anything is better than paper towels lol). Clear contact paper! It looks like frosted glass, and is completely removable!

I did this years ago to our back sliding patio doors. It not only adds privacy it diffuses blinding light from the sun.

You can go to places like Hobby Lobby and buy "Etching Cream" Then you pick a stencil pattern. Draw the pattern on the window with a grease pencil or something that will not rub off easily. Put tape on the part you do not want to etch. Apply etching cream on the parts outside of the pattern and it puts a light frost on the window permanently. I suggest a fern pattern with small fern fronds or a vining pattern. Remember that you are going to have to live with the pattern and make sure it isn't one that will detract rather than add to the décor. Try to pick a classy one!
