How I got an aged effect using CeCe Caldwell Paint and her new Satin Finish

Satin Finish is a brush on hard durable finish that leaves a waxed look. I started with a base coat of Vintage White, then using a small chip brush I dipped into Hershey Brown and Vermont ...»
Slate paints. I wiped the brush off on a paper towel, like I would if stenciling. I dipped into the Satin Finish and smooshed it into the detailing. I wiped it off leaving only darker spots where I wanted them. I let it dry then put on a clear coat of Satin Finish. The sample came out nice. I'm going for it on one of my thrift store finds!

  • This was too dark and looked dirty. I was never happy with it so it was banished to the back of the garage.
  • One coat of CeCe Caldwell's Smokey Mountain Gray.
  • I lightly distressed it using a damp rag. NO sanding. 1
  • Finished off with CCCP brush on Satin finish. I am now a satisfied semi-perfectionist.

A piece I call "Smokey Buffet"

The before pic is done in Annie Sloan Old White with lots of dark wax. I've always found the AS wax hard and hard to work with. I didn't like it so shoved it to the back of the garage. ...»
Along came CeCe Caldwell's Paints. One coat of Smokey Mountain Gray (with no prep, painted right over the waxed finish) then a quick distressing using a damp rag. I finished it off with CCCP brush on Satin Finish. It's like liquid wax. Great lustrous finish and durable beyond belief.

CeCe Caldwell's Paint. It has been a whirlwind for sure. One of our Hometalkers asked me if I had tried the paint. I had been using Annie Sloan but immediately tried CeCe and loved it. I became a local retailer and it wasn't long before CeCe called to ask if I wanted to be a distributor. Wow. I hardly have time to paint for my customers but am having a blast.
