Use microfibre cloth and baby oil it works for me. A friend of mine told me about aluminum foil but I haven't tried it, rub with the shiny side.

I copied these guidelines from Whirlpool. Cleaning stainless steel if you have used cleaning products on it you can get a build up or etch it by using them on it. Clean Your Refrigerator: NOTE: Do not use abrasive or harsh cleaners such as windowsprays, scouring cleansers, flammable fluids, cleaning waxes, concentrated detergents, bleaches or cleansers containingpetroleum products on plastic parts, interior and door liners orgaskets. Do not use paper towels, scouring pads, or other harshcleaning tools Wash stainless steel and painted metal exteriors with a cleansponge or soft cloth and a mild detergent in warm water. Okay here's a few things they don't tell you. I don't know if you have used cleaning products on it? If you have instead of using anything else even dish soap use plain water and micro-fiber cloth and start rinsing it off and dry it. Keep repeating unti it is clean. If it is really dirty again use a drop or two of dish soap, wipe it down, rinse then dry. Keep repeating until its clean. If you have used bleach, ammonia, scouring powders, petroleum products you could have etched the surfaces.Do not use paper towels. Dry and clean with the grain, this is important. I use a diaper or a glass cloth. R It is lint free, not rough to dry it. If you have etched it or taken off the sealer try using a stainless steel cleaner. It might help and give it shine.I would recommend that you use the cleaner that manufactoried your refrigator. Why because there are different grades of stainless steel. And different cleaning methods. I gave you Whirlpool's guidelines. I have a generic cleaning method which all stainless steel they say never use cleaning products. I always wipe down with water only and dry. Worst case a drop of dish soap and dry. Hope this helps. If you need give me the name of the manufacture I will send you the guidelines.

Great info, as always,@Sherrie. I found a stainless cleaner at Big Lots that has worked very well on our refrigerator for the last ten years. I'm going to look at the ingredients before I use it again though. Do you think just a steamer would work better?

Becky I just don't know. That's the truth. I would be very careful. I don't know if the cleaning product created a problem and has a build up on it, or if the cleaner damaged it. I think it's a build up. I also use a lint free rag each time I dry it. You could send me the brand, model, and serial number and a picture and let me see what I can do. : )

I own a small "green" cleaning company and have found the best product for daily cleaning any stainless, glass, mirror or black glass appliance (stoves or microwaves) is hydrogen peroxide. If there are tough finger prints or food residue use a mild soap water mix first (I use 2-3 squirts of castile soap in a spray bottle of water), wipe off then polish with the hydrogen peroxide and a dry COTTON towel. a rough cotton is best like a flour sack or non-stretchy t-shirt, you do not want something soft or that has fabric softener on it. If you still have some tough stains after these steps use the Bar Keepers Friend, but remember this is an acid and you must follow the directions to avoid damage to any surface. When you are all done polish with the peroxide to bring up the shine.

The problem with cleaning stainless steel is that there are different gauges and different ways of cleaning it. Peroxide on one kind of stainless is excellent, on another it is good but good means it causes slight corrosion. This is why you need to know the stainless and brand you own and the cleaning guidelines. The better the stainless the easier it is to clean. See if the brand of cleaner you have been using has a petroleum product in it. If you have sprayed cleaners on your -refrigerator it creates a build up. I am also enclosing guidelines to peroxide this should cover all materials and the effects it has on it. But if you have the right stainless steel this would be a wonderful answer to cleaning old products off. http://www.ozoneservices.com/articles/004.htm

Spray with club soda and use a microfiber cloth to clean it then use another to dry it. Works great on mirrors and windows also
