Sempervivum Ciliosum Var. Borissii

A strange name for a really unique hens and chicks plant - the texture is like terry towel, and the color is beautiful; a mixture of jade and sea foam.
As if that wasn't enough, this is one of the uncommon yellow flowered species. Most of these plants have pink or peach colored flowers, rarely white or yellow. I really like the button shape of the rosettes, which are about two inches across, and very compact. The stolons are long, and tend to snake around a bit before dropping the chicks to root.
All of the hybrids and species of this plant are so unique - I'm wondering what the children of this plant will look like, crossed with the genetics of some of my others in the collection - imagine this with red leaves? Bright pink flowers? The possibilities are endless...
Sempervivum ciliosum var. borissii flowers are spectacular in close up view...
The cluster of flowers looks too big for the plant!
Growing in a little community, the fuzzy rosettes are very sweet...
The spiraling growth habit is mesmerizing...
Closer still, you can see all the tiny hairs which give this plant the characteristic fuzzy look.

The yellow seems to be the most uncommon - this one is so perfect seen in closeup.
  • I love the fuzzy look of those succulents. So pretty

@Carol Speake - The Gardening Cook I'm so looking forward to the day that they make a huge colony - right now I have about 15 rosettes, most of them small. It will be so great if they can cascade off a stone wall or something - that would be a great texture, don't you think?
