I think a large spot is something coming up from below in my carpet.

I have had it professionally clean and the spot got bigger all the times it was cleaned. I am trying to sell my Condo and need this gone.If anyone can help I would be ever so grateful. And bless who ever helps me out. Thank you for your time.

It would seem that the stain has gotten into the pad and it is being brought up with each cleaning. cleaning that deep is tough...The best thing would be to replace...new carpet helps with sales.

Have you tried putting some baking soda on the spot and leaving it for a while? Then vacuum..... Another question..... how did you have your carpeting cleaned, dry cleaned, or chemical? Perhaps if it was done "wet" some of the chemical got under the carpet and is forming mold. If so, the carpet cleaner would be responsible for that. Do you have anyone who could take up the carpet to that point where the stain is? If there's wetness underneath, they could remove that and then tack the carpet back in place. And I'd clean it then with baking soda mixed with a little white vinegar.... don't call anyone else to come in. Hope the spot is near the edge somewhere, and not in the middle of the floor.
  • This stain was due to the floor underlayment was wet when the carpet and pad was installed. Installing new carpet is the best way to remedy this problem. A few years ago we had a dog get sick on our carpet while it was on the market. I had it professionally cleaned and it looked perfect, the next morning I woke to find a much larger reddish orange stain! With nothing to loose I went to Home Depot to pick up a Capture Carpet Cleaning kit. It is a dry clean powder that I have used before. I took it home and dampened the spot plus 3" area around the spot and then used the Capture pre-treat spray and then the powder. I let it dry for a full 8 hours vacumed it up. Much better but still slightly there so I repeated the process. Magically the second time was the trick and it was all gone! This was a very light beige carpet. It saved me having to replace the carpet and the hosue sold 3 days later. :D

We had a nasty ketchup stain on our carpet (messy teenagers!) I found an organic recipe on pinterest that is equal parts of vinegar and water and about 6 drops of Dawn dish detergent. Put it in a spray bottle and spray the stain including about 2-3 inches around it, let it sit for 15 minutes then put a soft dry cotton towel on top, grab your steam iron set to the 'cotton' setting and repeatedly iron over the entire area. It has lifted pen ink from my carpeting as well as the ketchup stain but I did have to repeat the process for a coffee stain when my elbow bumped my coffee cup. All of the stains are gone and none have come back to 'shadow' me. This works well or organic stains including pet stains but may not work as well if the stain is oil based. Also if you have wool carpeting such as some berbers, you may want to test a concealed area before ironing as wool has a habit of shrinking.

If you didn't try the capture, I still highly recommend it. I also have several friends that swear by the Norwex Enviro Cloth for getting out hard or old mystery stains.
