The Floods in Colorado

Where I live ( up in the high country and away from rivers and streams) we have faired pretty well. All of the main highways down the mountain however are either washed out or blocked by rock and mudslides.
We were with out power for just over 13 hours last night to mid day today. It is raining again but we did have a little sun this afternoon.
Sadly there have have been fatalities with this.
It may be days or weeks before some of these roadways are opened up. A visit to the market today was an eye opener for many. Shelves stripped clean of Bread, Bottled water, eggs etc.
Being prepared with a week or more of emergency food...is a good thing.
This pic is of Colorado Hwy 7 about 12 miles west of the small town of Lyons, (this is about 15 miles north of were I live) but this type of devastation covers many hundreds of sq miles.
The photo is not mine but from a Denver post contributor.

We recognized a lot also. Prayers, wishes, and positive thoughts for the people in Colorado. It's my favorite place in the world. So much destruction in a place of pure beauty.

@KMS Woodworks Kevin..just reading of this now. Amazing. You probably have heard of the slide in WA, Oso.. they just found one more body the other day, after 2 months. I think only one more person is missing. Hubs told me of one of the workers in the city next to the transit where he works/drives, she had just bought a foreclosure, just closed on it, and died in the slide just a few days later. We go to the Oregon Coast a lot, down Hwy 26, to 101, always looking out the windows for trees ready to fall over, so many on the highway. One time we just missed a tree falling from wet hillside that killed a man, right after we drove by. these things are so sad when we hear them. Maybe humans are spilling out into places that are un knowingly unsafe? We wonder sometimes how things would fare even for us if Mt Ranier should blow, as did Mt ST Helens. Glad you folks made it ok?
