my son got chewing gum on a blanket and I don't want to wash it until I remove the gum but I don't know how to get it off without cutting it out.

An ice cube can be used to "harden" it up some this may allow you to remove more of the bigger pieces. Once that is done some WD40 or some goo gone type solvent. Follow up with basic laundry. The Solvents may stain ...but it is better than a hole.
  • To add to KMS~ put the blanket in the freezer for a couple hours to harden the gum then scrape off. Some say peanut butter works too. but I wouldn't want to waste that LOL. I would also try some sort of oil like vegetable or baby oil. Good luck!

I agree with Renee, I always put it in the freezer for a few hours and then scrape it off. I have also heard that rubbing alcohol works as well.
  • You can also get "dry ice" at most ice cream shops. They will usually sell small quantities. It will cause most sticky things to release. It would even get duct tape to not even stick to itself. Be careful handling it though, easy to get frost bite with it.
