Paper Mache Witch's Hat

Kendra Loftus
by Kendra Loftus
This hat was a bit more complicated than making the pumpkins. I made the brim of the hat out of a piece of cardboard box and the conical part out of the thick packing paper. I taped it into a cone shape and stuffed it with packing paper to prevent it from collapsing when I cover it with paper mache. You can use a piece of wire into the center of the hat to bend it into shape but since I didn't have any, I taped a piece of string to the tip of the hat and pulled it into place taping the other end of the string to the bottom of the hat. Once I was finished papering the hat and it dried into place I cut off the string. Then embellished it with fabric and flowers. I love the way it turned out. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Very cool, I love this and may make one just to put with other cool hats I have on display.
