  • Kimberly, there has been many posts on this very subject over the past few years. lots of great ideas and perhaps some not so much. I suggest that you type in Grout Cleaner in the search bar at the top of the page. Its there you will be directed to the several dozens if not hundreds of posts on this very topic.

I use hydrogen peroxide on mine- they're lighter colored. On my darker colored ones I use totally awesome that you get at the dollar store.

Super Clean (find it in the automotive section at Walmart) and a good scrub brush. Use about 1/4 cup per gallon of water. Use a mop and soak a few minutes a section of tiles you can manage to reach, then take a scrub brush and scub away. Rinse several times as the superclean is very strong and hard to rinse but is a very good cleaning/degreaser agent. Do not use on tiles where there is food preparation. Once the grout is clean invest in a good penetrating grout sealer and this will help the grout from staining. A good way to tell if your grout is sealed or if your grout needs to be resealed is..... if when you wet your grout and it actually changes color normally darker then it needs to be sealed or resealed.

I agree with Jacquelyn, hydrogen peroxide works well, especially combine with baking soda. I've also discovered that hot, soapy water works well too.
  • thanks for all the help
