Just simply make a fold at the end of the tape.

Janet is right! That's what I do!

I have folded and also put a large paperclip sticking out near the end

Agree with the folding the end over - even while you are young it and between strips!!

I use scraps of paper, paperclips, twist ties, anything I have at hand, I think it's easier to shove something between the end of the tape and the roll than to fold the tape, especially if you have your hands full. grab a scrap of paper at least as long as the roll is wide, stick it to the end of the tape, and you've recreated the original packaging.

Of course the simple way is folding the cut back will give you the starter point. When I start a roll, I cut off the strip of starting tape and use it every time in reverse to the fresh cut new end. I place that starter piece inside the roll, or the back of my hand so i don't lose it and reattach it everytime I put the roll down. Or I will use the scissor blade to stick to the fresh cut so i have it ready for the next cut without losing the 'edge'.If I have made the mistake and forgotten, I run the sharp edge of the scissors around the roll until it 'hits' the tape edge, then slowly lift up the edge until I get a fresh starter piece.

I use a plastic closure tab from a bread loaf. The tabs come in 2 sizes and whenever I get one of the larger ones I save it specifically for my roll of packaging tape.

Stick a paper clip under the end before you tuck it down. It will be long enough to pull up the tape with next time you need it. Works every time.

You can fold the end back onto itself or use the little plastic tab that come on bread.

After you use it, fold over the end, about a 1/4 inch, the width of the tape. Just put this on the end of the tape, and you will have NO further problems. I know very well, the tape can be a real problem, tho this is your answer. Best wishes.

I always just bend the end over on itself making a little flap to pull out next time. and you are using the 3 0r maybe they are 4 inch roils there is a little cheap plastic roller dispenser that works well too. I also Like to keep a single edge razor blade that I tuck under the end my rolls and of Duct and Masking tape as well that way I always have a cutter handy and never have to look for something to cut with.

Martha, take a razor or something sharp and gently cut into a couple of the top layers of the tape, lift it up off the roll for a new starting point. Please stabilize the tape as you cut into it so you don't cut yourself.

Thanks for that idea. The best answer so far. Now i need to get a razor blade.

Not sure what you mean? Thanks

Sally wanted to tell you to put a button there on the end of the tape, and fold it over. This will not get lost, either.

I use a toothpick under the edge I am cutting, cut just before the toothpick so the toothpick is able to be removed and replaced in the same fashion

I take a twist tie to put under the end of tape and then fold the ends over (like a bag of coffee has to close package).

Simple just fold it over on itself.

Go to grommet.com - they sell a tape dispenser/cutter tool to put on your tape roll. They have it in 2 inch sizes for the packaging tape, and 1 inch (I I think ) -they do have 2 different sizes. I don't know how it works, but somehow the end of the tape doesn't stick down again after you use it. (I have one - tried it).

One of my best investments was a weighted tape dispenser that can hold one roll of 2" packing tape or two rolls of 1" packing tape. There are two benefits: you don't have to hunt for the end of the tape, and you can use it one-handed! It can sit on the table or hang on the wall. Price runs about $18, so if you find yourself throwing away several rolls of tape a year because you can't find the ends, it will pay for itself.

Thank you and never thought of that. Have a nice day.

  • Use the flat tabs that many of our purchased items have, bread bag has a tab. Roll out the amount of tape you need, slap THAT tab up against the other end(the end you will cut), cut to the left of your tab. Viola, the tab prevents the cut end from pressing against the roll and causing all the problems.
