Paint an Inspiring Home Using Color Psychology

As a newly-wed I had certain ideas of how I wanted to paint my house. I wanted to make a statement, experiment with colors be bold and show-off my taste. As a psychology graduate however, I decided to take it slow and see what certain colors mean and how they can affect a person's mood. So before you paint your living room an eccentric shade of eggplant purple, or your bedroom in a sexy shade of red, read how some of the following colors influence you directly and add intensity.
In the blog post below you will also find a video with Denise Willard, an interior designer who explains that certain colors are more suitable in certain rooms of your house.
Painting our first home was a great experience and very exciting - I learned so much about colours, lighting and space than most people in a lifetime! After all I started to believe that colours really do influence our mood.
Green - Natural and Relaxing. Green is used for meditation and reminds of lush meadows. Its great for living room, hallway and bedroom. Green also appeals to those who work with money. Often cashiers and banks are painted green.
Yellow and Orange - Very energizing colours. Orange is good for exercise rooms, but research doesn't agree much with yellow, as it shows to distress babies, be hard on the eyes and couples report more fighting in yellow rooms.
Red may seem as bold and sexy, but don't put it in your bedroom. It increases blood pressure and stimulates appetite. No wonder large fast food chains and restaurants have loads of red. It's a good choice for kitchen and dining room.
