Create your own DIY Christmas ornaments that look very expensive but will only cost you a small amount of change. These Stain glass ornaments were so easy and super fun to make. The secret ingredient is a fairly new stain called Unicorn SPiT.
The first thing you need to do is protect your surroundings...this project can be very messy. I prefer to use both plastic and newpapers to cover my counters and near by floor area.
As with many projects you need to do a little prep work before the fun stuff starts. This project is no different. Once you have purchased your ornaments you will want to clean them with rubbing alcohol, remove the hangers and then paint a thin layer of Mod Podge on to the ball and let them dry. I made a drying stand with some clay and lollipop sticks I had in craft supplies.
Lay your plastic grocery bag out and drizzle your desired colors of Unicorn SPiT in any design you would like.
Wrap the plastic bag around the glass ornament and start gently smooshing and rubbing the color onto the ball. Lift up on the bag to see if you like the results of the design. Once you like what you have place your ornament onto a drying rack.
As your ornaments dry they will look very dull and you will think you did something wrong but you did not...this is normal.
To bring out the spectacular colors you'll need to use sealer. I used 1 thin coat of MinWax Spar Urethane with a clear gloss finish.
Let dry according to the manufacture's directions.
