Curious on both answers, does it leave it flat like paint or does it actually make it feel like the texture it shows? This feels like it looks not flat to the touch at all

The Strie Texture is as the name implies. It would create a texture. I would first experiment on some cardboard to get the texture your looking for. All depends how gentle or heavy handed you are.

is the wall plaster and lath? It looks more like someone painted over wall paper. Textures are very hard to recreate. Why not create a focal wall with the new one instead of matching.

Thats what i was thinking it thick like plaster or possibly wallpaper. We bought our house a year ago and there are many different textures to walls in the house. I like this idea, my only complication is his brother and him play alot in the room and have a couple ding spots and an accidental foot heel into the wall from being rumbustious boys. So im trying to think of what to do that can cover the few dings and the new sheet rock, if you have any suggestions I would love to hear!

My theory with things like this is - don't try to match it - do something contrasting such as do a shiplap wall, wallpaper, or something else. It is difficult to match paint colors and sometimes textures and it will usually come out looking like you tried to match it rather than actually blending.

Shiplap would be better than sheetrock - it is definitely more durable! Here are some photos of what one wall can do - painted or stained - simple, durable, and cheap!

It does look like a linen finish. I don't like it is wallpaper. Wallpaper would have very consistent lines and this does not. The lines waver slightly. I think they tried to create a linen finish with paint. I am not sure what it is called but it can be accomplished by running a stiff straw broom through wet paint. Paint the wall, run the broom through the paint all in one direction, wait for it to dry completely. Paint the wall again and run the broom in the opposite direction. An example would be, first vertical and then horizontal. Since in the photo it appears that the horizontal is not as defined as the vertical, they probably did it horizontal first and then vertical. But only you can determine that sincertain we're only getting a snap shot of the texture. Once it dries it should match pretty close. I have done this technique before in our houses and the texture is similar to what is shown. Hope this helps.

Have you thought of changing the entire room to something new? It sounds like that wall you are trying to match is in need of repair anyway, and you could make it your own design. ( or your boys ;-)

im thinking that is what is going to have to be done. I guess I just have to figure out how to remove whatever it is . Thanks for you help :)

It looks like Seagrass, a wallpaper technique from 40-50 yrs ago. It could be put on in sections or strips or varying widths. It's probably got several layers of paint. There are some plaster techniques that could mimic it, but like the others say, don't try to match it. Just make an accent wall -- much more up-to-date.

Looks like someone did a poor job of trying to cover a stain. It looks a little greenish in the center. Also the 'grain' of the center piece seems to run up/down while one side is up/down and other side is right/left. Could be a dirty wall that they just slapped paint on with a used roller.

bead board all around at bottom. paint wall above. will be able to change colors and look as son grows. open shelves above on new wall? hard to say without seeing layout of room. but bead board worked great with my 3 boys. Stained it a light color and changed out the wall color above as their likes changed.

This looks to be a faux linen paint technique. It's super easy and when done correctly looks amazing. I love the texture it gives a wall. YouTube has some how to video's if you are planning on giving it a try. Super easy to do.
