Homemade Soap Balls

5 Materials
My sister gave me a pretty wrapped bar of some from Italy several years ago. I have it displayed in our powder room for decoration and do you know that it still smells good when you walk in the room. So as I was starting to decorate for fall I wanted to put this somewhat ornate soap away and put out some more cozy decorations. I missed the pretty smelling soap so I decided to make my own for all.
I'm not sure where this old craft came from. I think it was a summer camp craft but I do think it lends itself to an adult craft too.

The original ideas is to take small scraps of soap and grate them into smaller pieces. Then you can roll them up into balls for re-use. How's that for thriftiness?
Now, I wanted to take this idea a step further and used purchased unscented soap and scent it with fall scents. I also wanted to color the soap with fall colors.
It's really pretty easy. Grate your soap and add food coloring, essential or fragrance oils and a tiny bit of water.
Gather it up with your hands and squeeze and roll into balls. Let them sit out overnight to dry and you are done.
Now the powder room is decorated for fall and smells good too.

You can find lots of great easy and affordable project on my projects page HERE page.
You could also bag these up and give them as gifts. Color and scent them for the appropriate holiday, or to match the decor of the room.
