It would be helpful if your picture were clearer, meaning, maybe take one with lots of light pointing towards the dresser. But from what I can tell, I think it would look beautiful painted an antique white.

The only way to give the dresser a new look is to lightly sand, clean prime ,and paint.

Sand and paint or if its solid wood, you could give it a lighter stain. And add some new hardware.

Just paint it with chalk paint, no sanding is needed - add hardware - done!

Divide it vertically into about 4 or 5 sections and paint each section in an antiqued color ( slightly darkened colors, nothing crisp) then distress the corners, edges, even scrape some paint away. Add antique-like hardware maybe white porcelain. Paint the body of the dresser one of the colors from the front.

I do not see any hardware so I guess you pull the drawers open from the bottom. Adding hardware can change it. What is your house like. If it is contemporary, you could paint each vertical strip a color ,(different or graduated). Why not go metallic after you sand it. I like the hammered finishes. It seems less likely to show imperfections. You could change the feet. Maybe an industrial look you could use some plumbing fixtures for the feet. Just make sure you and felt to the bottom so they do not scatch the floor. Of course there always are casters.,

Oh...painting the strips in graduated colors, so interesting! The Ombre shading is so "in" right now! I like the industrial aspect, too, more my style, but the ombre shading really is interesting for someone!

You can fill the vertical lines with wood putty. After it dries, sand it so it's even then paint with chalk based paint. Use code DSD at HeirloomTraditionsPaint.com at checkout to get 10% off.

Why not decoupage it with book pages, or old maps, or atlas pages. Heck, there are all kinds of books at junk stores that are cool. Then add cool knobs or handles. You could paint the main part and cover the drawers. Will look cool. You can get acid free decoupage paper as well. decopatch.com is one brand that is fun. Good luck with whichever change you try.

Cover the drawer fronts with thin wood and paint or even wallpaper. Veneer perhaps

I redid my ugly old Spanish Mediterranean bedroom set, wow what a difference! I spray painted it! You can also replace handles or add hardware! It is fun to shop for things to remake!?

I would paint each drawer and do an ombré effect then add large drawer pulls on each drawer; or you could fabric cover a piece of balsa wood cut to size of drawer front and glue on and add drawer pulls.

I love that dark wood. Just hit it with a fresh coat wipe on poly and put some stainless steel hardware on the drawer fronts

There are so many options available, chalk paint, sanding & re-staining, decoupage, antiquing, adding fabulous handles, and so on. Best of luck.

Depends upon what taste you have if you want a more modern look paint it white or black then put modern gold / gilded square pulls on it.

If you don't like the grooves in the drawers, as I don't. I would use wood putty to fill in the grooves, let dry, sand, repaint or stain to color of choice, then find knobs you like and add them.
