Easy to build American Flag Corn Hole Bags backyard game boards. Each board is made from plywood and 2x3. Easy wood working project and fun for the entire family.
Corn hole is a great outdoor yard game that is fun for the entire family. We designed this set to be easy to build and with the American Flag also very patriotic.
Corn hole boards are 2ft x 4 ft we used 3/4 plywood but you could use 1/2 inch without a problem. Instead of screwing through the plywood and then having to fill each hole with wood putty we used a pin hole jig from Kreg. This jig is inexpensive and available at most hardware stores.
Cut 2x3 or 2x4s to frame the 2x4ft plywood as shown
Since we had the kreg pin hole jig out we also used it to connect the corners of the 2x3 frame.
This is the drill that comes with the jig. You can set the depth soscrews will not go through the plywood
You do not have to use the Kreg screws but we had them and they work nicely.
Once the frame is attached to the plywood its time to work on the fold out leg assembly.
Cut 2 2x3's around 14 inches long. These will be cut to size after the leg assembly is in place. Each is them attached with a 3/8 bolt as shown. Make sure the bolt is positioned so the leg can pivot and fold flat.
We added a cross member to attach both legs together. Once legs are bolted to the frame they have to be trimmed so the finished board is 12 inches high. Best way to do this is to use boards to get the board to correct height while legs hang off the end of a table. Then mark line and make final cut. Please watch the short how-to video attached to this post for details.
Note the hole can be cut with a jig saw or hole saw. It has to be 6 inches in diam and 9 in down from top.
The next step is to design and paint or stain the board with any design that you like. We did an American Flag. I painted the board whit and then used 2 inch painters tape to lay out the lines. Please watch out painting lines video for an easy trick that prevents paint from bleeding under the painters tape.
I printed vinyl stars from a Cameo Silhouette vinyl cutting machine but Star stickers are also available on Amazon.com

After the stripes are painted red apply start stickers and paint background dark blue.
Let paint dry completely before use.
