Douglas Hunt on Sep 20, 2013It's really hard to tell from your photos, but it looks to me like your mint has flowered. Did you rub the leaves and smell them?Helpful Reply

Cathy on Sep 21, 2013The photos make it hard to see anything clearly but like you I thought it might be ageratum but I don't think so. I've never seen ageratum with long flower stems- it's usually just a mound. Even the leave stems in the pictures are longer than ageratum is. Otherwise, I have no idea what it might be so I'm absolutely no help at all! :-)Helpful Reply

Gail Salminen on Sep 21, 2013@Cyndi Neumann try to take the photos from a little further distance. I think you are a little too close in an effor to get better detail, but there is some blurring making it a little difficult to actually see the detail.Helpful Reply

Colleen Desmond Orlopp on Sep 22, 2013This looks just like the Ageratum that takes over my flower beds every year. It adds beautiful fall color, but I have to rip it out by the handful in places where I do not want it to grow.Helpful Reply

Cyndi Neumann on Sep 22, 2013Yes, it is a native plant that popped up in my garden bed by my bridge to the porch. I have seen them on the roadsides, a small purple puffy flower that is hard to photograph! Thanks, Smiles, cyndiHelpful Reply

The Blooming Gardener on Sep 22, 2013There are a couple of Ageratum that are long stemmed and are great cut flowers...this site has a good photo of one type. http://www.edensbotanicals.com/ageratum-blue-horizon-hybrid/ They do have petals on the flower like an Aster...kind of.Helpful Reply

Emilia CartĆn MelĆ©ndez on Sep 22, 2013That is Ageratum conyzoides, very common weed in my country, Costa Rica, even seems a weed it considers a lucky charm if you harvest in January.Helpful Reply

Lyndi F on Sep 22, 2013It is so funny that I saw this post! My mother and I have laughed at this same plant that she has had growing in her flower beds for a couple of years. She didn't know what it was, but she had ageratum growing there before---you know, the low-growing kind we're all familiar with. I told her it had to be ageratum, but that it had kind of morphed into something different. Well, I think it's funny that others are wondering, too!Helpful Reply
