Actually, it was growing when I moved in five years ago, but there's an erosion problem that's gotten progressively worse. We have several trees in the backyard, and my husband limbed them a bit to let in more light. It helped, but I have a feeling that our backyard was used as a rock drive when the subdivision was built 12 years ago. As the erosion continued, more and more of the type of rock typically used for those sorts of construction driveways showed in the yard. It wasn't as evident before because I think sod had been laid when the house was new, masking the rocky soil.
What can we do about this, short of tearing down the fence and having heavy equipment in to scrape up the rock and put down new topsoil? We really don't have that kind of money. Could Zoysia help? I don't know it it's a lot of hype but the ads say it grows anywhere. If it's a good choice, would you do plugs or seed?
