How to Get Rid of Fruit Flies!

Those pesky flies drive me crazy around this time of year! I've googled other methods, but I tend to go back to my tried and true way. Simple and I'd say 80% effective. It's not fancy and it's not pretty, but when you're desperate, it's perfect!

I believe they live in the sink drain. Try cleaning it out with bleach, as a secondary remedy to the vinegar

@Polly Carroll There are about a gazillion different types of flies & gnats. The ones that hatch in drains are different from the ones that live in houseplants, which are different from fruit flies. The fruit fly eggs come in on the peels of fruit (including tomatoes) so the best way to prevent an infestation is to either seal the peels in a zipper bag before throwing them in the trash or, if you live in the country like I do, either adding them to the compost pile or just throwing them outdoors. Once you have them the best way to get rid of them is with the vinegar/dish liquid in a dish since they're attracted to the fruit juice of the apple cider vinegar.
