Red Devil No. 1 antique glacier stapler

Anybody have any experience? I am trying to resurect my Granddaddy's, but I can't get the diamond points to stick ... am I loading it wrong? It either shoots a diamond point that falls out, or it shoots a "blank" .. anybody? Thanks!

I have one of these and still use it. I'm thinking the spring may need to be stretched a bit to put a little more force behind the "hammer" You may also need to clean the shaft that holds the points. Those are held together with a waxy substance and it may be built up inside. It will worth spending the time on it!

I use mine (very old too) by just half pushing until diamond is out and then I push it myself against the frame ridge. IT works.. without the bang
