Staging Dining Room

What I did to turn an outdated dining room into a warm welcoming place to gather:
This was the first thing you would see when walking into the dining room. Older style china cabinet.

The client and I found a lovely buffet on Craigslist which was reasonable. You can see the buffet before and after.

This is the same wall as older buffet was in. The customer and I shopped consignment, thrift stores and most of the accessories were bought used. Lots of money saved!

The client bought a new table (old one matched the old china cabinet) and sewed slipcovers to hide the dated chairs. They were cane back chairs, but with the slipcovers they were instantly updated.

The large botanical prints were found for $50.00 for the pair - Score!

A large shade was placed on the outdated ceiling light and suddenly very chic.

The old shelf above the buffet was found for $40.00. The shelf only need a little polishing and now it looks very expensive. The accessories were placed on the buffet for a casual, natural look. The customer loved how it all came together, now it looks warm and inviting instead of outdated.

It doesn't take much money to update a space - You can use what you have and update the look with paint. Looking for new accessories doesn't have to be expensive. Shopping at Goodwill, thrift, consignment you can get great buys. You just have to keep and open mind and look at things that can be used in different ways.
