Melaleuca Alternifolia or Tea Tree oil contains potent antibacterial and anti-infectious properties. Powerful but mild, this healing oil is safe to use on children and most pets. Living in a large city like Miami, you should not have to order it and pay shipping. Any place that carries essential oils should have it. Check the health food stores in your area, or do an internet search for "essential oils" with your zip code for a list of stores close to you.

Tea Tree oil is for external use only and should not be taken internally. Personally, I would not use it on pets. Some things that are safe for humans are not safe for our pets.

Great for feet fungus, skin issues, nail problems. Apply with q tip to affected area. If using everyday, you will see a difference with timely applications. Since it is natural, it will take longer than prescription drugs, but with little or no side effects. The smell reminds of Lestoil, the cleaning antibacterial agent.

Tea Tree oil is great on insect bites, too! Wal-Mart, and my local grocery store and my health food store carries it. Hopefully you can find it in a store by you.

@Tobi there are many uses for tea tree oil - here is a site that may help you understand http://www.keeperofthehome.org/2013/04/25-uses-for-tea-tree-oil.html while Malaleuca uses this in many of their products (my favourite is the foot spray) you can also purchase the oil at health stores and pharmacies. If you want the Malaleuca products you will need to visit them on-line or contact a local distributer ( http://www.melaleuca.com/?culture=en-CA ) - note that because I am in Canada it gives me the canadian site, if you google it you will get the US site. Do note that the oil is not for internal use, but I have used it (from a bottle purchased at a pharmacy) on a toe nail problem which responded completely. Hope this helps.

I also read somewhere if you use tea tree oil and vinegar and water - spray your shower with it and it is suppose to help prevent mold from growing - I think you have to spray it in your shower daily.

Walmarts, Target, Walgreens, they all carry it. My ear nose & throat doctor, recommended it diluted with sweet oil for itchy inner ears. I have allergies which settles in my ears to create an ear fungus. Tea Tree oil stops it, dead in it's tracks. We use it for other purposes also. We use the shampoo, the soap. It's great!

Hi Tobi! I have been using Tea Tree oil since 1996 and my favorite brand is Thursday Plantation.It works the best of all that I have tried. I have used it on everything from a hang nail to major back surgery incision. I also used to suffer from chronic sinus infections for almost 20 years and I used the ointment in my nose as far as I could get it to go and over night all of the signs of an impending sinus infection were gone.I know that legally they cannot tell you that you can use it orally or otherwise internally but this brand does make a pessary for women's vaginal yeast infections so I don't see any problem. I have been told in the past that tea tree oil is very strong and it has to be in some kind of base because it can burn your skin.My mother uses it on her dogs feet pads when they get a fungal infection and I personally use this stuff for so many things that I just can't go into here.If you want to know more just click to follow me and I can email you directly. http://www.thursdayplantation.com/ Tobi were you planning to buy some soon? I just googled "is tea tree oil safe for dogs" and it appears that some of the medium to large breeds MAY be able to tolerate this being applied to their skin in a very diluted form and there are even some shampoos with this in it that are targeted at use on dogs for skin problems. It is a definite no no for smaller breeds and other pets such as cats. It appears that even some larger dogs have reacted badly to it. Ill effects can include liver damage, nerve damage and paralysis. I would urge anyone thinking of using this on their pets to treat skin conditions to consult with the vet first and definitely not apply in full strength form or to smaller pets. It is toxic to cats too. Please read for yourself the information on using this in pets and the possible dangers before making any decision to use it on them. It is always best to be well informed. I am sure there are people who have used it on their pets with no ill effect (so far) but there are probably as many that have had problems.

I've gotten mine from Melaleuca.com the last 12+ years. I've used it for everything from getting Sharpie marks off of counters, to skin problems, to healing cuts and burns. I occasionally maintain the habit of rubbing it on my gums. The taste is a bit nasty, but it makes my gums and teeth feel stronger and healthier. We recently moved into an old Grange hall that stood abandoned for at least 4 years. We use(d) "Solumel" to clean out all sorts of dust and rat/bat poop. This place feels light years cleaner and warmer compared to when we moved in.
