I just bought a home where the people who refinished the hardwood floors lacquered over a cable and left a big divot in

the floors. Anyone know how I can fix this with out refinishing all of the floors? Its only about a foot long.

    1st sand it out using 80, 100 ,120 then 180 grit sand papers. The trick is to smooth out the edges. work with the grain of the wood. Depending on the board length it my be good to sand the compete board.

    What a lousy thing to do! Is the cable out? You're going to have to sand, fill with matching putty, sand, stain and polyurethane. Otherwise boards will have to be replaced.
