How to un slick tile floors?

My kitchen and baths are tiled and a drop of water on them and you go sliding. Not good for an old lady. Does anyone know anything to put on them to make them not so slick? I can't afford to replace them. Did I mention I have a dog who drools and like to lay on the cold tiles in the kitchen!

Joy there are products out there that can be put on as an over coat as simple as moping your floor. I've not used any myself or know of anyone that has so I would recommend you check with your local HoDe or L's home improvement stores. The brand that came up most in a Google search was called Johnny Grip. Here's a how to video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CpceA_gKlc

The Johnny Grip mentioned above is listed as an "aqueous mixture of acids". my guess is it works by etching the surface "glaze". They claim that it maintains it ease of cleaning, if the surface is indeed "roughed up" it would be harder to clean. Another option would be to install some area rugs, that use a no slip pad or have an antislip backer. These can be placed in strategic locations.
