Everything I have is brown. I would like to paint a microfiber dark brown material like a teal . Will it be stiff feeling and possibly wear off where people sit?

Yes the chair is paintable. Heres one example of how it was done. diyhomestagingtips.blogspot.com/2013/04/how-to-beautify-ugly-microfiber-chair

I think you will need to practice applying any paint or dye to such a dark color without it becoming stiff or plasticky feeling/looking. Are there sections underneath the chair, or perhaps flaps/skirts where you could have some trials? Otherwise, I'd suggest just buying some colorful pillows and/or throws and let the dark brown just be a disappearing neutral, the cost would probably be about the same. Just like dressing up an investment piece with the latest accessories.... good luck!

Yes, you can paint microfiber fabric with paint...but you must add a conditioner called "fabric medium" to the acrylic paint. I have used a 50/50 ratio and all my newly painted fabric items have stayed soft and the paint has not flaked nor chipped off. Here is a link to someone who used a 2part paint/1 part medium...she says it worked well for her... Happy painting.

Textile Medium is sold in craft stores like Michael's and Hobby Lobby. Mix up to 50 % with acrylic paint from these stores also. I would try it on a hidden area before I went to the areas that show. This medium helps the fabric/paint stay soft after drying. Most fabric painting is suggested to heat set. Can do this with a dry iron ...but I've done some and after drying 24-36 hours it has not washed off. Most of mine stuff is done on sweatshirts and t-shirts. I taught this for years and just did a class for a quilt guild yesterday on fabric painting. Good luck.

It is possible to paint fabric with a good quality Chalk Paint, ie Annie Sloan. There are many bloggers who have successfully repainted fabric and leather sofas and chairs. If you check Hometalk or Pinterest, you will find many tutorials! Good Luck!!
