I need to find a new door knocker.

I removed an old brass door knocker from my front door a few years ago. I bought a new one but it doesn't cover up the marks where the old one was placed. It is to late to return, but I want a new one. How do I find one that will cover up the spot where the old one was? There are so many different sizes and shapes. Would it be OK to use the new one even though it doesn't cover the spot exactly? I also painted the door.

Consider mounting the new door knocker to a piece of wood or metal plate that is large enough to cover the area.

Cindy has a great idea! You can get nicely cut wooden ones at craft stores , paint to match your door and attach the door knocker to the wood, covering the previous spot! Show us your solution ! : )

You can fill the old holeswith wood filler, sand smooth and touch up the paint...it will look like new
