How do you remove the yellowing from rug backings that is left on the floor? I have tried everything I can think of and the stains still remain.

You can't. It's a discoloration caused by the rubber-like backing. I never used those kinds of rugs anywhere.

@Emma Taylor Do the rugs you use slide all over because there is no rubber backing?

I have had this problem in our RV and can't get the stain off. We had laminate faux wood flooring put down. Do rubber back rugs also do this to wood laminate?

I have throw rugs on my laminate floor and they were sliding, I read to put a couple of strips of clear latex on the back side. They no longer slide.

you can get the stains out. Use ammonia and water. I had the same problem years go. I used ammonia in a bucket of water and mopped the entire floor. Not only did this get the floor stain free, it also left the entire room smelling sweet after I aired it out. I never saw a cleaner floor! Just be sure to open all of the windows during and after for a bit. It does work!

Seldom do the backings "stain" the floor....rather the sun bleaches the uncovered areas as well as oxidation which lightens the color of the floor
