Make Free Storage by Upcycling Your Empty Paint Cans With Paint Chips

I was painting the spare room to convert into a craft room. Instead of throwing away the empty paint cans, I decided to use them to create some free craft storage buckets.
To make these storage buckets fun and colourful I upcycled them with paint chips from the DIY/Home store. The paint chips create a great ombre effect and enable me to colour code my crafts supplies.

This is virtually a free craft, all you need are some empty paint cans, paint chips and glue. You can use white glue or a good decoupage glue like Mod Podge.
First thing to do is clean up your buckets. I only use Eco paints which are water soluble. So mine were easy to clean with hot soapy water. I just chipped off the dry paint.
I also decided to spray paint the inside of my paint cans to match the paint chips colours I was going to use. I use montana gold spray paints which come in lots of lovely colours click here to see them.
I applied glue both to the can and the paint chips as I stuck them down. I then coated the whole of the paint chip covered tin can with glue to seal it.
I love the effect of the paint chips on the can, and can't wait to get some more empty paint cans to decoupage. Eventually I want a whole rainbow of storage buckets in my craft room.
