Reporposing a scratched silver plated tray

I found out it is too expensive to resilver a tray of this size, so I was wondering if anybody has any good tips as to how to repurpose it? The silver has been scratched so badly that the copper is showing through. Look forward to hearing great ideas!

Nice suggestion, Janet! Maybe try some sort of covering for the middle part or a laminated picture and glue it to the tray, making it sort've a decorative thing? Or perhaps use it to your advantage by either making it into something shabby chic or spray painting it? Hope this helps? :)
