Replacing Wall Outlets

Our home is 15 years old. When it was built, homeowners were given two color options: gray or beige. And for those that chose beige, they were also gifted with outlets that are that nice dirty almond color. BLAH. So, step one in my up and coming laundry room re-do is to change out those ugly almond outlets. The instructions here on HomeTalk only scratch the surface and give a basic outline of how to replace your own outlets. Please do not start this project without getting the full instructions from the blog post. Electrical projects should be taken seriously, but can be very easy to complete yourself with proper safety precautions and instruction.
Just a few tools is all you need to get the job done. Be sure you turn off the power to the outlet first!!!!
remove mounting screws
note how the wires are currently connected to the outlet you are replacing.
Please visit the full post for detailed instructions before beginning this project.
Wires may attach to screws or through slots on the back of the outlet. Be sure to connect wires to appropriate sides. See detailed instructions on full post.
Connect the bare or green wire to the green screw.
Be sure wires are fully connected. No bare wire showing.

you should always make sure that the instructions in both short & long instructions say to turn off the electricity to the electrical outlet that you are working on as there is enough electricity to shock you & very seriously hurt you if not worse.
